Why is Inpatient Rehab So Effective?
Effectiveness of Inpatient Rehab
According to The National Institute on Drug Abuse, since drug addiction is a chronic illness, it cannot be cured in just a few days’ time. Scientific research shows that drug rehab significantly helps people to stop using drugs, helps to prevent a person from relapsing and helps a person to regain control over their life.
At an inpatient rehab a person who is addicted to drugs or alcohol will have no choice but to come clean once they are admitted into the program. Although it may be hard for a person to go through the withdrawal symptoms, an inpatient rehab will monitor and help the individual through all of their hardships.
Resources at an Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient programs provide the support, education, and environment necessary for becoming drug-free.
The first resource a person struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction will receive at an inpatient rehab is a group of professionals who will each contribute to the individual’s success in conquering their addiction. A doctor will be available to help the person through the physical withdrawals of their detox. A psychiatrist will be available to help the person get through the psychological withdrawals of their addiction and most rehabs will have counselors available to conduct group therapy sessions as well as professional staff available to help ensure the individuals safety while at the rehab.
In addition, a person going through a rough detox will have medication available to them to help them through the withdrawal symptoms both physically and psychologically. This can be highly beneficial to people who have been addicted to drugs for years and have developed high dependencies to drugs.
Another resource that inpatient rehabs provide is around the clock care and monitoring. Being that the individual will be receiving their treatment at the facility and living on the premises, there will be staff and medical help available 24/7 to help the patient through their detox and through the hard times when coming clean from their drug addiction.
Furthermore, a person at an inpatient rehab will receive a plethora of support to help them overcome their drug addiction. Support is a key ingredient to success and when a person is admitted to a drug rehab they will be provided with an abundance of support from their team of doctors and therapists as well as from all of the other patients who are their going through the same problems.
In addition, one of the best yet unnoticed aspects of an inpatient rehab is the privacy and nonjudgmental environment. Every patient at the rehab is overcoming some type of drug addiction; therefore stigma is not present in rehab environments. The lack of stigma and the multitudes of resources and support a person will find at an inpatient rehab is what will make an inpatient rehab so effective.
